Portrait of Alex Seidel

About me

Gameplay programmer with shipped C++ experience on an Amazon Games title.

Hi, I’m Alex Seidel, a First-Class Computing with Artificial Intelligence graduate from the University of Sussex and a gameplay programmer with two summer internships at Glowmade. I contributed to King of Meat as a credited programmer, developing gameplay features in C++ within a large production codebase.

I enjoy turning complex technical problems into clear, responsive player-facing systems. My work spans gameplay programming, artificial intelligence and procedural generation across Unreal Engine, Unity and Godot, combining commercial team experience with independently developed games and technical projects.

Beyond the CV

A few questions with Alex

What is your favourite part of coding?

The bit when I write the code, run it and it actually works. Still one of life’s greatest highs.

What is the most “Alex” holiday you have ever taken?

Touring Europe doing escape rooms with my friends. Apparently visiting another country isn’t enough; I also needed to get locked inside one. I'm hoping to do one in Asia next.

Which game has taken an unreasonable number of hours from your life?

Factorio. From the moment I put together my first automated production line, it had an iron grip on my soul and has yet to let go.

What could you talk about for an hour without any preparation?

Any one of my projects.

If you could have helped develop any game, which would it be?

Untitled Goose Game. I’d love to have attended the meeting where someone first suggested making “being an absolute nuisance” the central gameplay mechanic.

What do you get up to when you’re not working?

I read a lot and help proofread for some fiction authors, ski whenever I get the chance, and spend plenty of time gaming or out with friends. So I’m usually either immersed in imaginary worlds, hurtling down a mountain or doing something silly with friends.
